ITPS020 FELIX K

Our 20th podcast comes from Felix K and it’s a lovely DnB mix he recorded just after the millenium. Also make sure to check out Hidden Hawaii and all it’s sister and sublabels, Felix is involved in. Wicked bias vibes!

Hello Felix how are you and what have you been up to recently?

Hi, I have some Hidden Hawaii releases in the pipeline. One is by Late Echo Express, one is by DB1 and myself and there is also a project with nine Ena and myself coming very soon. I do the last preparations for these.

Your podcast was recorded quite a long time ago. Could you tell us a little bit about that time in your life and how this mix came together?

I recorded the mix with two technics mkII, a vestax mixer and sennheiser hd 25 headphones and the software Cool Edit on a Desktop Computer.

It was recorded after the Millenium, when I was a bit disappointed by the way the Jungle / Drum & Bass music took. Which surely was just my personal opinion. So I recorded a series of mixes (24 hours in total) for myself with the sound of the golden era (93-97) that made me fall in love with it in the first place. The whole series took place because I wanted to create an archive for myself as I wanted to listen to my records every time and everywhere. I mixed many records by labels mainly Basement, Certificate 18, Creative Wax, Good Looking, Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, No U-Turn, Odyssee, Photek, Prototype, Reinforced, Science, Source Direct, Street Beats and Timeless. I basically just went through the catalogs and mixed tracks. There was no plan behind it. You can see it as afternoon sessions just for fun.

You are involved in quite a lot of labels like Hidden Hawaii and many more. Could you tell us about the different projects and how it’s going with the labels?

Its going well. I’d say let the releases speak for themselves.

You live in Berlin. How would you describe the city and what do you think about the scene there?

I don’t go out very much.

Thanks for the interview

Felix
