ITPS033 OVERLOOK

Overlook is part of a new generation of UK artists exploring the boundaries and different possibilities of Drum & Bass. Enjoy!

Hello Jason how are you and what have you been up to recently?

All good here, thanks! I’ve just been making some new music after a bit of a break in the summertime. Feeling really inspired recently though so I’m very excited for what’s to come.

There is almost no information about you online. Where are you from and where do you live now? How would you describe the city and music scene there at the moment?

I’ve only done a number of interviews in the past, In all honesty I don’t like to invest too much time with promoting myself as a person to the online masses, It’s generally not important to me. The music speaks for itself really.

I’m from Bournemouth which is on the south coast of the UK. It’s a really nice place to live but there isn’t much going on that I’m particularly interested in. There is a few people making music though, which is great to see and hopefully it can grow more in the future.

What are your thoughts on the current state of electronic music?

It’s pretty healthy right now, I’ve been listening to alot of different genres recently and finding much to enjoy. There is of course some uninspired music around but if you’re willing to dig then you’ll find alot of great stuff. Even just from the guys I work with at UVB-76 like Pessimist or Karim Maas, their music is exploring new ground from my perspective. As long as people keep developing themselves and maturing with what they want to do then great music will keep coming.

What annoys you or has pissed you off lately?

I try hard not to let things piss me off often,  that’s not always the case though. I would say not being as productive as I’d like to be sometimes is a bit annoying.

What excites you besides music?

Movies are a big part of my life and most people that know me are well aware of that. I’ve been planning for a long time to finish a short actually.. I did a couple as experiments a few years ago and scored them myself which I found really rewarding, so that’s definitely a goal for the future.

Other than that I’m excited about travelling more in the future and experiencing some new things.

Anything coming up you want to share with us? Any shout-outs or final statements?

There is alot of music coming out from me over the next few months and 2019 in general. Mostly on UVB-76, Osiris Music, Droogs and a new label coming from me and Vega which is to be announced soon. I really feel some of the new material I’ve made is some of my best work and I can’t wait to share it! Last thing to say is thanks to everyone supporting the music and to you guys for getting me on board. Enjoy!
